Going to the Ryman

We'll be headed to the Ryman in a couple of weekends to take in the late show at the Opry on a Saturday night.  Because of the Christmas Spectacular at the Opryland Hotel, the Grand Ole Opry is performing at the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville.  The Ryman is often times considered the original home of the Grand Ole Opry, but it is actually the fifth location of the Opry.  In 1925 the Opry started at the National Life and Accident Insurance Company in downtown Nashville.  It then moved to the Hillsboro Theatre (Belcourt) and then onto the Dixie Tabernacle in east Nashville.  In the early '40s it was at War Memorial Auditorium.  Then it moved to the Ryman Auditorium before settling in at the Grand Ole Opry House in the mid-70s. More information is available at the Grand Ole Opry's Website.
